Personally, I just don't like the looks of them. They are the lightest of the 997 wheels, however (if that sort of thing matters to you). If you like the look of them, there is no reason not to get them.

Ugly Wheels at first glance, but slowly growing on me. To each their own...

When my son was 6, he called the Honda Element the "Elephant" - have you seen one in gray? Our family still calls it by that name...

I think Porsche stole the design from Chevrolet. Here's a picture of the wheel from the 97-99 Corvette:

I'm neutral on these wheels. Don't love 'em or hate 'em, but I do think they look better with colored crests, as do most wheels, IMO.

After three years of unsuccessfully trying to produce lobster fork wheels, Chevrolet sold its production machines to the state of Florida where in 2000 they were used as voting machines... now we know.

Fugly....and they do not match the clean curvilinear lines of the car

Try lightweight 5 spoke wheels for a clean uncluttered style

As far as looks go, I've never liked (and still don't) the lobster forks. Too many cutouts, notches, holes, or what have you. Black painted ones hide much of those details, so naturally they'd look a little better.

I really dislike the lobsters. I didn't order special wheels on my car because I thought I'd switch to 18s immediately upon delivery, but now, 27 months later, the lobsters are still on my car because they work fine with 19" PSCs. And fwiw, I've bent both my front wheels from track use.

The 5-spoke 19" classics are the best looking OEM 997 wheel, I think. I really should've ordered those: easy to clean, simple design.
