Warranty on New Car (Demonstrator)
I am thinking about buying a '07 4S that is being sold as new. Less than a 1000 miles and was a "Demonstrator". They tell me there is only 3 years of warranty left. Does this sound fishy? Thanks

regardless of titled or not, the warranty starts when porsche puts the car into service. i bought an 06 demo with 5k miles, it was put into service mid to late 06 so i had only 2.5 years left on the original warranty, but had the car CPO and extended the warranty.
go for it, does not sound fishy, but you might want to look into having them CPO the car.

in my toyota manual the stated warranty is 36,000 miles or 3 yrs. 60,000 miles or 5 yrs for powertrain. i imagine is the same for porsche. watever the manual says.

Demo’s do not get titled. In most states when a car is titled sales tax and license are due. That’s where dealer plates come in. It allows the cars to be legally driven on public roads without having to be titled.
If the car just had dealer plates slapped on it for a few laps around the block the time limitation on the warranty would not start until the car was titled (obviously the miles tick off with each lap around the block). But if the car was placed in “demo service” a RDR form (retail delivery report) would be sent to the manufacturer or distributor telling them the car was now in demo service. The time would now be ticking on the warranty of that car.

Sometimes Dealers use the term "Demo" but infact didn't RDR it or put the car into actual DEMO status. A simple check of the VIN will reveal the actual warranty start date. Any dealer can pull it's Pro Forma Invoice up and it'll tell you all you want to need.

Can they CPO something that hasn't been PO'd?
How's this for busy. Lease it until right before the warranty is up. Turn it in and buy it back after they CPO it. I have been told this has happened before.
