Default Did I get overcharged for 2year inspection?

I was charged $700 for oil and filter, air filter, brake fluid change, etc. for 2006 997S.

I waited for the car. It took 2hrs.

Labor charge $415 seems high to me. The parts pricing were what I expected from the dealer.

What have others paid?

Default I am a Newbie....but reading alot on this site lately

I think that is not an unusual charge from what I read. That said, I think you and everyone else paying that kind of money is paying TOO MUCH!!! I like to do alot work on my car and the job they did is a simple job that with a little knowledge anyone can do. Mercedes and BMW allows (well at least they use to) allow you to do this stuff as long as you keep receipts and documentation so as to not void the warranty. I do not know about Porsche and I wish someone could comment on that. I would not pay that kind of money unless forced for warranty issues.

I did mine myself,--amounted to about 3 filters (2 air, 1 oil) and 8 quarts of oil. Less than $100 in materials and an evening in the garage. My Porsche service manager reset the car's computer for me!

One nice thing about the newer Porsches is that there is little that really needs to be done at 24 months. I did mine based upon mileage,--20,000. I will hit 24 months this (2008) summer.

Carlson charge $450 for the 20k service and $150 for fluids change with a 10% discount. That should total to $540.00. For $700, it is on the high side. Where are you located and which dealer????

I paid $840 @ Rusnak for that rubber stamp on the service book !!! I wish I'm as handy as some member here and DIY it. Always have a fear of finding an extra bolt or two at the end of a repair. I did great in High School Auto shop. My dad repair and maintenance race car in his hey day. Yet i feel like I'm mechanically challenged in changing oil or a brake pad...

P.S. Rusnak also wanted a grand plus just to change the brake pads and rotors. Dealers, can't live without them.. Yip, the bitch slap me to obedience.... Hehehehe

Default MyEmily...I would consider joining a Porsche Club..

.I don't currently belong to any car clubs...but I'll bet that if you join a Porsche club they will teach you how to do anything you want on your car. I use to belong to the Mercedes Club in LA and I learned alot about my 68 280sl.

Joining a my local P Club is on my list to do next year. I needed to learn how to drive my P-Car and be able to fix it too. IMOF, was cleaning up my garage over the weekend to get more space to work around my car. I may need to design a bigger house if my plan for another 997 TT/ GT3 come true next year.

23k in 14 months. I don't think I needed the brake services. The Service Advisor said the Brake and Rotor is "out of spec".

What have others paid?

Just had the 7,500 mile service done but all they did was oil change, bled the brakes and fixed the horn. Paid $250 at Suncoast in Sarasota.

Time actually spent in the shop has little to do with man hours spent working on vehicle. It also has a lot to with the experience level of the tech(s).Also vehicles can be worked on by multiple techs to finish the job faster for clients that are waiting for a vehicle to be serviced as opposed to vehicle that where dropped for the whole day.
