I suggest doing a search on the subject - there are literally dozens of threads on this subject and it is very polarizing.
Here is an article disucssing SCP:

Default Do a search, I did and it ranged anything from..

..the single best piece of equiptment you can get specially if you have a Tiptronic to the ugliest and worthless thing you can add to ruin the smooth line of your dash.

I knew I would get the "do a search" answer. I realize this has been discussed before but I really am looking for current opinions just like the discussion that just took place about C2 vs C2s? I dont own a 911 yet. I drive a 2004 CS. Last car was an E46 M3 which had a sport button. I liked it quite a bit. Again didnt make the car any faster but was alot more responsive for example heel toe blips for the downshift much easier. So current comments welcomed please? I am trying to figure out what I want C2s , C4s, C4, and what I want on it etc etc etc.

thanks

I just bought my 997S after several months of looking and considering options like the SC. The car I got has it, but in the end it wasn't on the mandatory list. It adds some toys in the PCM, entertainment really. It does improve throttle response but not acceleration. The "wart" seems to be liked by newer owners and hated by those who've had Porsches for many model generations. Me, I don't care one way or another about the wart but it does keep my sunglasses handy!
I can't say if it helps resale or not. My guess is that there are some buyers who must have SC, and you won't sell to them if your car doesn't have it. OTOH, there clearly are some buyers who won't buy a car with it, and having it will prevent selling your car to them. My guess is that there is little difference in resale (I couldn't detect it in my searching).
That's about all I can tell you from my experience. Do what ever YOU like, this option isn't worth agonizing over or all the posts and threads that have been spent on it, IMO.

I didn't want it but the car I bought has it. I think it's worthless. Unless you're getting a tip, skip it.

The car i found had it. I hardly use it. I dont mind the the "wart" so much.
SC does allow some settings on the PCM (lights, locks, AC) to be changed w/o having to go to dealer.
Not a costly option to have; can use it if you want or just leave it off.

I agree. The car I bought had it, but I haven't found any real advantage to it in my day-to-day use, especially it's prime purpose of timing laps, which I find so complicated that I likely wouldn't bother even if I wanted to time laps. The only advantage is the other PCM settings, except that on mine the "individual settings" doesn't show up on my menu so I can't access them anyway. I asked the dealer and their response was "the manuals aren't always correct for every car model".

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else have a C2S (mine is a 2005 cab) with SC that does not provide the individual settings option on the PCM.

Default I love my wart!

I think the wart is kinda cool looking though I likely would never use the timer option as I don't intend on tracking the car.

I do likely the re-mapped throttle and it's responsiveness and would get the option for that reason alone.

Regards,
You can get memory seats without SC and you can get SC without memory seats.

Well thank you very much I think I could take it or leave it. If I find a car that has it , fine. If I order , probably not. Suppose I will search and read all my other questions pasm, s, 4, etc. Right now my only must have feature is color. I dont want black, silver, grey! thanks again
