I had a C2S now a TT. Yes the clutch is very light on the TT, as its got assist, otherwise it would be heavier than the C2S. The TT has turbo lag, and is not linear like the C2S, but when the turbos spool, hang on, its wicked insane fast! I worried about the AWD but its pretty transparent, its totally electronic now, at least on the TT. Also got the limited slip which I'm sure helps. C2S is a great car, but the power of the TT is intoxicating.

Top gear funny guy loved the 997 TT. He usually hates the 911.

The TT is a MONSTER ON SUPER STEROIDS... I would get the TT in a heartbeat!

i got to test drive the 997TT and obviously it is a powerful car, but then the power didn't make me go ga-ga either because of the boost. like on an on-ramp i punched the throttle as the bend straightened and unlike an n/a car and no matter what peopel say about the new engine having little to no lag... there was most definitely lag. once it hits, it hits hard.

the car is just butter smooth and quiet and i feel the n/a cars sound better than the turbo cars.

the turbo is the legend, though with its gt1 block and badging and widebody style. if i was going to spend that much money on an x51 c2s, i'd just save up a bit more dough and get the storied gt3.

I saw a brand new 997TT on my way to work today...dang, it looked so nice.

For me, if money was no object (better stated: ~$130K limit), I'd choose between a TT and a GT3. I haven't driven either one of them, but I suspect I'd go for the TT. If I wanted a serious track toy I'd probably get a Lotus (shouldn't a track car be light?). The C2S price w/X51 is pretty close to a GT3...I'm not sure why anyone would opt for the X51 other than maybe just not wanting the GT3 wing.

Simple: Back Seat.

Example: The Family Car as my Club Coupe (which has the aerokit) is affectionately called -- https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/393649-who-says-the-911-is-not-practical-for-families-x-post.html

If it were that easy, the world would be different.

PT Barnum had it right!
Here we go again... Porsche out engineered Porsche so why can't the aftermarket that tunes / prepares race cars? Porsche oem headers are pretty bad (undersized leftover pipes from a 3.6), and they re-engineered to create the X51 header which is better, but not as good as say an AWE. Porsche willingly admits to using "off the shelf" leftover items when they have to to save money. But the Tuners that seek the last bit of power spend another 2 years finding just the right design that will provide gains -- Porsche is already on to the next car and not looking back on how to pull a little more out of the 3.8.

As to voiding warranty, changing headers, cats, mufflers simply doesn't impact warranty... period. Same goes with intake especially if you use oem X51. I'll agree with you on the plenum or any internals -- I wouldn't touch them because I'm concerned about warranty myself.

Obviousily I am on your side of this discussion.

But how is the Plenum any different than an airbox or exhaust?
You aren't changing anything mechanical in the engine just air flow which is what they do on the Intake of the x-51 from the TB on back. I am more concerned about a warranty issue with a software change. I think you used REVO I am going to try APR because they are semi local to me.

It's all in the comfort level. Take your car in for service and the plenum has been changed and you have a recipe for an argument. I think everyone agrees that headers, cats, and mufflers simply have no way to impact the health of the engine -- even my dealer agrees (he put my AWE system in). Intake - I'd trust the X51 intake, but personally wouldn't touch anything else (no oiled filters for me). Same basic reason - comfort zone. As to software - that's something a little more touchy - my dealer likes REVO and installs it, so I know he would honor warranty. Any Porsche made part - I'd be happy with whether a header, intake, plenum, etc. in terms of warranty coverage...

Okay, I just built "my" car. Here's how it breaks out:

911 Carrera S, $83,800.00
Exterior Color, Basalt Black Metallic, Z4, $690.00
Interior Color, Black Full Leather, AT, $3,365.00
Performance, Carrera Power Kit, X51, $16,900.00
Wheels, 19" Turbo Wheel, 404, $890.00
Adaptive Sports Seats, P01, $2,695.00
Heated Seats, 342, $500.00
Navigation Module for PCM, 672, $2,110.00
BOSE High End Sound Package, 680, $1,390.00
PCCB Brakes, $8,000

Total Price*
$120,340

YIKES! Makes my 2005 launch car seem like a bargain!

It might take me a few months to muster up the guts to throw down that kind of $$$.

I had a 116K list price 997S in 2006 without PCCB. I love the car but if I had it to do over and was going to spend that much on an S model I would get the GT3 or Turbo depending on my wants and needs.

For that kind of money you're better off with a preowned 997TT or even waiting to see if what kind of power the DFI car gets and if X51 will be an additional power upgrade on top of that.
