Speed Yellow
Okay I know this is subjective. After owning two 964's in Guards Red. I am looking at a Speed Yellow 997 S. Is this a bad color for ownership? Okay I know this is subjective but most 997's are gray, silver or black. I am about to pull the trigger but I am thinking. Can I sell this down the road if I am unhappy with it? Thanks

Personally I LOVE Speed Yellow....it is racey and gives some flash to the car plus it is a color that does not show swirls like dark colors do.

Up here in the Pacific Northwest, we are lucky if the dealers have anything besides silver or black. I had a new yellow 997 shipped from Champion in Florida. It was the only yellow one in the country with 18 inch wheels and a rear wiper. It is a fantastic looking car in yellow.
Resale? You will be able to sell it but maybe not as quickly as a black or a silver one. But, you should buy what you want. It is an emotional purchase anyway. There is nothing rational about paying $90k for basically a 2 seater with a very small trunk.
On the upside, and other speed yellow owners will agree, the yellow cars are just a little faster than the other 997's. The factory just builds them that way.

I went from White 911 to a Guards red 993 to GT Silver 996 to Speed Yellow GT3. The Silver was mature, the red and yellow give you a sense of excitement when you get into the car and drive it. I don't notice alot of difference between people reactions between yellow and red. It seemed in the silver/white that other drivers would not notice when my blinker was on or be cognizant of my lane changing as much. Definitely a safer colors to be in. You will not regret it.
Down side is that when you pass a cop you get a nasty feeling in your stomach, cause he is looking at you too. Never been pulled over tho. People will tell you it is harder to sell, but I never noticed that.

Honestly, it's simply a little of a more special colour, in my opinion. Silvers and greys do look fantastic - but a speed yellow car will also set your listing apart when it comes time to sell - someone may get just as excited about it as you do.

I think it is weird how many silver/gray/black are on the used market. I kind of determined as nice as those colors are I wanted something different. My 32,000 mile Carrera 4 here is a link http://public.fotki.com/drodg/. is rather stand out. Thanks

I love SY ! i wanted one badly but noone locally had one and I didnt want to wait for an order so I went with Guards Red instead . I like the "flashier" colors .there are so many silver and black Porsches in S.FL that they blend in .

Currently, I am on my third Speed Yellow Porsche. SY is easy to maintain, hides swirl marks, and contaminates well. My future Porsche will also be in SY. The SY makes the car look unique and special. I just hope they will always offer this color in future production models...

Even malachite green is less awful than speed yellow, and malachite looks like it belongs on a Corolla. I don't think a car that's styled as aggressively as a 911 needs a loud color like yellow unless you're going for an in-your-face look a la orange GT3 RS.

I think speed yellow is the worst Porsche color available. There, I said it.

says the guy who has the worst exterior color matched with the worst interior color
but no, seriously, it's all about whatever the buyer wants. There are plenty of people who think my terracotta/black interior is hideous, but I love it. The thread is about others' opinions, and I gave mine. I have friends who love their yellow cars, but I don't think I'd ever buy one.
