On what date does everyone start using snow tires?
Just wondering when all the winter drivers switch over to snows. I found an interesting graph from Volvo that essentially states 7 degrees centigrade is the equilibrium point at which summer, snow and all season tires perform equally well. The nights are starting to get cool here (high 30s/low 40s), but days are still in the 50s and 60s. Any opinions are welcomed. Thanks.

Snow tires?? Oh yea...
It really depends upon how far up in the rust belt you are. If you lived in Maine you'd already have them on (1st of November) and they don't come off until Memorial Day weekend!

Already on both of our cars. I watch the weather forecasts and look for morning temps (commute time) to be near 40 or below, and put them on right before that. The cold traction is so much better, wet or dry, that I no longer wait for a snow/ice forecast. Got light snow/rain in our forecast today, driving 100 miles each way for biz, glad they're on!

Lucky for me - now that the Club Coupe leaves DC for San Diego on Monday - the "cold temps" that require a all-season/winter tire for me will no longer be an issue.
I leave Monday X-Cntry - oh yea!!!
