May be is our roads, not the PASM?

I couldn't disagree more with this assessment. PASM sport with 19's is the best setup available on the 997 in my opinion. Want a stiff ride? Drive my bone stock '86 Carrera with stock 16" wheels. The 997 in sport/19" rides like a Cadillac by comparison. I turn on sport mode as soon as I start the car and turn it off only temporarily when I encounter a particularly bad stretch of road. Anything less stiff would not be adequate.

I think the ride/handling compromise is marvelous with the 19" wheels and tires. I certainly wouldn't want a less rigid chassis or softer springs but a little less tire/road noise would be nice

... Probably spoken by people that have not consistently driven both 19s and 18s on road and track on the 997 platform in both sport and normal. Granted, I only have 7500 miles (50% track) on my car with about an even split between 19s and 18s, so my data base isn't incredibly extensive. But here in CT on terrible roads, and on poor track surfaces like Lime Rock, the nominally softer sidewall of an 18" makes the roads (and bad track) much better. Lap times prove this out too... And then there are the pro driver articles and video interviews that agree (997 and 997S with 18 and 19).
