"Does anyone regret getting PSE?"

Hmmmmm, does a starving dog regret a hot meal?

No regrets here - mine is on all the time (not wired). I tripped over my stock mufflers in my storage a few days ago and momentarily wondered if I would ever use them again, and in a microsecond decided hell no!

No regret at all. PSE is my favorite feature out of all the exclusive options in my car. Highly recommended.

When I began to design my car I never considered it. After extensive monitoring of Rennlist and Rennteam discussions I found that it was very popular and put back a lot of the sound that a 911 was always known for. (Much of that was lost in the 996 model when water cooling dampened the sound). Although it was a little pricey at $2400 I put it on the extensive list.

Today, it is something like most herein use all the time. The ability to silence it is great and done when I'm on the phone, on a long trip and noise fatigued, or in my immediate neighborhood. What marks it apart from all the aftermarket exhausts is (1) it is switchable and (2) is factory engineered and installed. One morning a friend and I were in adjoining lanes of traffic doing about 30-35 mph. He was in his Carrera GT and I was in my PSE-equipped 997S Cab. He shouted over to me, "what a great sound!" as I was thinking the same for his GT. If a GT owner likes the sound it must be good!

My options:

997 S Cabriolet 6-speed

...i wish the option was avaliable on the turbo. Get PSE, every time i hear a 911 with it turned on i can do nothing but sit behind them and listen to the engine, even if they are going 15mph.

I have a 996, but I consider PSE essential. I would rather spend money on that than $2k on upgrading the audio system.

Every time I go on a drive with the local PCA guys, someone asks me what type of exhaust I have...

My car came off the lot and was PSE-equipped; Tubi would definitely be on my list if it was not - as would AWE.

I just finished up my PSE install last week. Did X51 headers, PSE control switch and of course the PSE mufflers and vacuum lines.

It's the best of both worlds in my eyes (and ears).

Quiet when you pull in/out of the garage early mornings or late evenings, on the phone or when the Mrs. is my co pilot.

Great sound (vacuum is off) when your accelerating and cruising. No drone at all.

I didn't wire it up to my Sport Chrono but rather fabricated a switch 'hidden' in the ashtray so I can go from quiet to loud regardless of the status of 'Sport Mode'.

Bottom line: I love the added resonance and the off-set exhaust tip look. It's all Porsche factory equipment so it doesn't affect any warranty issues and it plug 'n played perfectly.

+ It's a true double exhaust system, not the single exhaust going out to a double exhaust tip.

+1 pse here too, regretting not getting it in the past, you don't really appreciate it as driver, except for those tunnels, Thinking of letting my kids use the car so I can get an idea of how it sounds as they drive off!!

Default No need to spend the cash on PSE

If you don't want the switchability between somewhat loud and quiet, you may want to consider having a muffler shop weld in bypass pipes between muffler inlet and outlet. All the sound of a PSE, actually more, for $175 out the door. This is hands down, one of the best, cheapest, hacks you can do.

Here's a link to my video with the crossover pipes installed:

I have bought a set of muffles to do the hack with the cross over pipe however can NOT get anyone in westchester NY to perform the modification for me. Tried several exhaust and garages, but all say it is too complicated???? Anyone got any suggestions?
