First, why would we all have read your "first couple of posts" so we'd know your genius?

Second, throughout this thread only one person from Jersey commented.

Third, if you don't like the board, avoid it.

Finally, since I'm from Jersey (never owned a Camaro, but had a couple of friends that did) and you decided to group us all together & insult us - Lick Me!

P.S. I don't think I've ever made a nasty comment before on this board, but I guess you brought the Jersey out of me.

I have read your posts and see you are a self professed expert and “know about timing, knocking, advance and what not” with one small exception; the oxygen sensor in concert with other sensors (temperature, barometric pressure, throttle position) controls the air/fuel ratio and has nothing to do with timing. How does that Camero run?

Though the reading was informative, Dave07997S's picture was so damn hot I forgot why I came here>>
I agree that the higher octane is not only a benefit but neccessary for the car to run correctly. I am trying to find a way to bump mine up from the 92 that we have in Washington to just above 93. I hear about toluene but does anyone know a mix ratio??

Did I mention NICE PIC DAVE!! (sorry)

Anyone in California tried running an octane booster? I've always been hesitant to add anything to the 91 gas we get out here but I suspect it means my 997 isn't giving its all. Anyone got any experience with these additives? Or, alternatively, anyone know of any higher octane gas stations in the San Jose area?

Here's one pretty lengthy thread discussion on 100 octane

What exactly is very hard???
My question is, is this normal, or could my car be having problems on 92 octane. I'm in California by the way.
Where in CA do you get 92 octane?
Best I've ever found is 91

Just for interests sake; my european spec car is designed to run optimally on RON 98 but will automatically adjust (ignition timing etc) if RON 95 is used (so says the tech manual). Do we have different ecu maps to the north american cars or is the european RON 98 equivalent to your 93 ??

Edit - I just checked the internet; US shell 91 octane is equivalent to European RON 95 so RON 98 must be the same as your 93 octane (or possibly a little higher)?

Is the amount of ethanol the same in the fuel's that are being compared? Doesn't ethanol give lower fuel mileage?

Default Blending 100 Octane in Norcal

My 07 C4S runs significantly better with 1/3 to 1/2 of 100 octane Sunoco to 89 or 91 premium: more HP, more responsive, better mileage, honey brown exhaust.

Aiming for 93 to 95 octane when I fill at the Unocal station on Woodside Road.

Ignition is not pulling back as much - can feel it - have 21K on this car this year

Knock sensor detects detonation by monitoring pre-ignition shock waves (pinging/banging noise to us) and feeds back to timing/computer, as I understand it.

As an aside, car greatly prefers Chrevron 91 over other brands, at least in the Bay Area............
