Default Anyone in Chicago

Hey All,

A buddy of mine here in Germany is looking at a 997 located at Luxury Motors and was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good place to get a PPI done. Also, if anyone is near there or goes there and can take a Rennlist look at the car, that would be GREATLY appreciated. My bud has been in contact with LM and he really likes the car. He wants to replace his 986 soon.

2005 Porsche 911
Luxury Motors O'Hare
3311 Charles St. Franklin Park, IL 60131
Phone: 1-866-578-8585

Thanks and have a great week everyone.

Default Napleton Porsche

They are a reputable dealer and nearby in Westmont. Also try Euroquipe,an independent,at 630-377-3774. They are in St Charles and nearby.
Be very careful at Luxury Motors.

I am the one that ITTIA is speaking about. I am in the market for a newer 911 to replace my 986. I personally prefer a 997 w/ factory aero kit already installed and feel that this one could fit me quite well.

Why do you say be very careful at LM? Is there anything that I should be aware of? Have you had or heard of anything about them? Thanks for your advise, and any other info that you may have.

1st, I've never seen so many "high end" cars at one location. You name it, they have one or more. The Hoffman Estates branch tried to sell me a "one owner" 05 997S a year or so ago. Turns out, it had 4 previous owners, all out of state. Felt like I needed a shower after the test drive and hard sell. V

I would second this. I thought about buying a Boxster from them, but I felt like I needed a shower when I returned home. Additionally, Crain's (local paper) wrote article about them having a lot of BBB complaints against them.

If you want to deal with them, get everything in writing (in advance). Sorry, but there is no way I am going over there to check out a car from them.

Well, I'm going to be taking care of a 100pt inspection through the local Porsche dealership....however, I was hoping that someone from the forums would be able to give me an idea of the non-mechanical items, like external scratches, dings, tears in the interior, etc.

Anyone that may be willing to do that? Probably only be a 5-10 min ordeal. Just tell them that you're not interested, but you're looking for the guy that inquired from Germany.

Porsche Exchange in Highland Park has 2 997 w/aero kit if you care to take a look there. I've never had any issue up at the Exchange, but others here may have different opinions. Just thought I would throw out some other options.

I'd say that's the only real knock on the Exchange, prices, but they want to move cars just like the next guy, so I'm sure you can deal. My advice would be to stick with the more reputable dealers in this area. Napelton, The Exchange, Leober, and maybe Moterwerks. I've never dealt with Luxury, but that many high end cars in one place seems odd to me. Just my gut feeling.

I can vouch for Farris at the Exchange as being very knowlegable and helpful ,albeit at retail price levels . I also would not buy car from Luxury Motors . You may get lucky but chances are you are buying a car with unknown history . Not worth the risk IMO . CRG

Run, don't walk, don't look back! These guys (Luxury Motors) are crooks. They have bought flood damaged cars in the past that have been written off by insurance companies and sold them as "good". Take your money elsewhere. Even ebay is a safer bet!

+1 on Faris, or anyone at the Exchange. I have bought 3 911's from them and they are trustworthy and great people to do business with.

What is LM's story about the aftermarket stereo/nav thing?
Even if it's technically an 'upgrade'..would make me squeamish.

+1 . another vote for Faris... he is top notch.
Honestly, I would pay extra for his level of competence + enthusiasm & good reputation-- especially if buying pre-owned.

I agree...I inquired about the factory stereo. I think that I'll be putting that back in. The alpine (although an upgrade) just looks out of place.
