THE muffler swap is not that big of a deal. Here is a link to the muffler swap DYI I wrote up on the 996 Forum which includes a diagram for the exhaust system. The 997 exhaust system is basically the same set up, but in case you wanted to see that diagram, I have included it below.

996 Muffler Swap DIY

I hope this helps.

I did the PSE install and removal on my 996... its pretty easy.
Aligning the tip and getting them off with that dumb clamp was the hardest part, but it looks like the 997 has an easier tip attachment point.

I was planning to do mine on ramps...

Do the wheels need to come off to do the 997 ?
On the 996 i could get the mufflers off easily leaving the wheels in place, and just jack up the car.

The wheels DO NOT have to come off, however, you can cut 5min from the install spending 20min to take off the wheels. IMO it's Pointless to take off the wheels

If this is like the 996 and just mufflers, then No, you dont need anything.

The mufflers attach to the cats with a cylindrical clamp thing.

The tips on the 996 had this hoseclamp looking thing... horrible to remove.
The 997 seems to have a much simpler tip attachment method (and location)

You are Welcome. No, you will not need any gaskets for the connecting points. Once you get in there it will become very clear why nothing else is needed.

Just had the cans and headers installed. I am in heaven, the sound is phenominal. I will be putting a video together with stock exhaust and then the tubi. No resonances and at regular rpm's not obtrusive then give it full throttle and music to my ears. Will post link when video is posted.

Gab,
Mine showed up yesterday, so i cant wait to get back and install these.
The parts look fantastic, very well made and the little Logos make these look so professional
Glad everyone likes these so far.

Just had them installed this morning at IMA motors in fairfax. Great group of guys and the tech was really meticulous about the install. He was so careful and even made sure the tips were perfectly aligned and centered.

From what I can tell so far the mufflers sounds great! Its raining today so I have not had a chance to open her up. I can only imagine it getting louder with age. Its pretty tame at idle but blip the throttle and I can feel the rumble.

So the Tubi mufflers went in this weekend.
So far i like it !
Its a bit deeper at idle than i thought i remembered.
Also, the more i drive the car, the mufflers seem to be sounding better and better. The high RPM roar is getting a better tone every time.
Its also amazing that unless you get on the gas, the car sounds very quiet.
The idle rumble is really nice, but the "rattling can of wall-nuts" sound is still there when moving off with the engine cold.
Overall im impressed.
I hope the higher pitched scream comes out more as i break them in a bit more.

Oh, on the install, i take back what i said about the tips being easier to install that the 996. Its easier to get to the bolts, but damn hard to slip the clamp over the pipe ends. The mufflers brackets actually seem to have easier access to the bolts on the 997 though

Hi,
I would appreciate it if you could get
me the name and number.
I read your post I guess there is still no way of getting rid of the
"walnut rattle" by far the biggest disapointment.
I used to have a maserati coupe w/tubi, when I purchased the porsche
my neighbor came over and said He missed having the Maserati drive by.
