Default rear (engine) lid not latching - ???

I just finished the DYI oil change on my 2007 C2S (thanks OCBen) and spent some time fine-tuning the top-off vs the indicator in the tach. Once I got it to where I wanted it, level-wise, I went to shut the rear lid. It will push all the way down, but won't latch shut. There is nothing in the way. Am I missing something stupid?

Probably not. One day mine popped open when underway. (Immediately got the announcement on the fault display). First time it ever did that.

Check to see if the mechanism is functioning. While you're at the lid, looking down into the latch thing, have someone else activate it from the driver's door area. See if you can see it retracting, etc.

You might have to turn the key on and off again to reset things since the hood was open for a while, then try it again, as it may have timed out the power to the latch mechanism or something to that effect.
