Not used as a source for 3 series BMW's but as info goes re ownership / dealers etc I would suggest www.m5board.com

I had an E46 330 cab which I bought Euro delivery. I liked the car at first, but after awhile I realized the driving experience was not so hot. The thing was just too heavy, and it always felt heavy on its feet. It was interesting to compare it to the 325i E46 sedan I also had at the time. Although the sedan had the smaller engine, it was much lighter, nimbler in feel and more fun to drive. This was probably due not only to the lighter weight, but also to the better structural rigidity of the sedan.

I'm sure the E90 cab is incrementally improved in many ways, but especially with the folding hardtop, it sure isn't any lighter. If you don't need back seats very often, I'd go Boxster.
