Default Mpg for '05 997 S

I curious if just a bit over 14 mpg (city) on an '05 S - with nothing close to hard driving - is typical fuel efficiency or something to look into further? I have 12k miles on the car. JR

I haven't checked it over enough freeway miles to gauge the highway mpg - I just thought the real mpg would be closer to the posted numbers (18/26). No regrets, though.

Jeff,

MPG's vary by a HUGE amount on these cars. I suggest reset your mpg calculator before doing a series of tests.

Here's my profile:

Hwy driving @75 ~2 hrs with no major throttle deltas: 25
City driving: 16
A mix of both 60/40 hwy/city over 1 week period: 18.9
At the track: 9

I get 15.5mpg combine on a 06 997 C4S. It just turned 1 yrs old w/ 17.5k miles w/ original tires. On highway w/ cruise control @ 85mph, I get 22.3mpg.Pure City driving...14mpg.. Anycase, don't really care much about the mpg... The smile and joy that my P-Car bring me is priceless. My Master Card don't come close at all....

If this is any help for you, lately my 06 S Cab has been getting 18-19 purely city and 23-25 purely highway. I'm not hard on the pedal.

My 06 997S cab with 6500 miles gets around 14-16mpg on average, but it is not a commuter car. Just short errands, short drives for fun, and a healthy amount of "spirited" driving.

3 month old 07 997S gets 13.7mpg.. mostly city... I will find out what open road mpg will be later .. right now I am a little puzzled. My 06 M5 with 500hp and 1k pounds of weight extra did the same in town ....

Check you tire pressures...i drive moderately with a few blasts from time to time and get 14.8-15 around town. When my tire pressures get low the in-town mpgs drop to about 14.1 +/-
