Default brake disc rust

Every time I wash my car, the discs throw rust all over the wheels. Is this something I have to live with?

Yes, you have to live with this. I use a compressor to blow the rotors dry when I finish washing the car. Do this before you drive it and it will solve your problem.

I'd say yes unless you throw $$$$ at it and get ceramics. No rust and very little pad dust.

I found driving around the block(s) after a wash and then clean off the wheels helps. The rotor heats up and tends to dry off the water before it oxidizes and drips on the wheels.

Or...wash your car...drive it up the street a bit, applying the brakes a few times (taking all the "rust" off the rotors), then dry and detail.
Wheels shouldn't gather any more "rust dust."
(Like what AP997S said. He's a faster typer, too.)

Thanks. If I just let it sit it drips some rust that is easy to wipe off. Will try compressed air next time. The price of having a clean great driving car.

Easy to prevent -

1
Wash car

2
take leaf blower and dry wheels / brakes.

3
Drive away happy...works every time

Between washing my car, I just use a micro fiber cloth (from Costco) to carefully wipe off the dust on the wheel. The Costco price is so good that I just throw the used cloth away, but one can actually rewash them and use them again.

With best regards,
