Default The H&R Wheel Spacer thread - 996/997

I've had several inquiries, so here's what I have from H&R:

Hubcentric.

14957161, 7mm = $65 a pair
1455206, extended lugbolt= $6 each

30957161, 15mm - $96 a pair
1456006, extended lugbolt $6 each

36957161, 18mm Cost $104.00 a pair
1456306, extended lugbolt $5.95 each

Available by special order:

46957161, 23mm Cost $130.00 a pair
1456806, extended lugbolt $6 each

In stock the best I can keep them. IF YOU ADD SPACERS, YOU MUST HAVE LONGER BOLTS.

Give me a call if interested, these are not available through our website. Of course, you assume all fitment issues if using these.

I'm new to all of this. Can you explain the purpose of wheel spacers? I notice Porsche offers them as a factory option as well. Thanks.

THe wheel spacers move the wheels farther away from the center of the car, giving you a little wider stance. Many do it just for the "looks."

Primarily for looks, I have 23mm spacers on all wheels and it makes the rear tires really fill out the wheel wells. However, 23mm is a little too big for the front, the 23mm added some 'twitchiness' to the steering. Here are some pictures of mine showing the wheels,

I've got a pair of brand new genuine Porsche 5mm spacers w/ longer bolts for your front wheels. It'll correct that 'twitchiness' you mentioned.

Mesage me if you're interested.

Clean me. I think 17mm for the rear and 7-10mm for the front will be better for you.

What exhaust tips are those? The fill the outlet space in the rear bumper very nicely.

I like the rear setup so I'll keep it that way. I might change the fronts come winter.

It's a complete fabspeed exhaust setup, the tips have a nice bevel to them that IS polished but it quickly gets dirty from the exhaust.

Here's an H&R install I did on my 996 to adapt the 997 wheels to my car.

Used H&R 15mm spacers with new (longer) 60mm bolts.

Car before spacers

Wheel off - hub face clean and ready to take spacer

Spacer fitted - nice locating screw feature lines everything up and keeps the spacer on the hub while you mount the wheel.

As you can see, adds a nice step out for the 997 alloys on the 996

New 60mm longer wheel bolts (essential)

Replace wheel, star pattern torque to 96lb-ft, and voilà!

Spacer visible through the wheel

Handling is great - no wobbles with these hub-centric spacers.

Turn-in is sharper - car feels nice and planted through turns.

Actually they are 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 Toyo PROXES T1R

Best tire I've tried so far - and I've tried a few!

I like the grip and ride - and especially like them in the wet compared to any other tire.

Sidewall supports the 911 rear engine just fine, no obvious over flexing - and it has a nice bead to protect the lip of the rim.

I have 305/30/19's for the rear so your 315/25's sure are wide! I will price out the Toyo's as I will need new street tires soon due to all my track days.
