John - can't help with the part, but you need to stop opening the trunk lid. Every time you do that you find either 1) an "extra" part, or 2) a "missing" part.

Hi,
I do not think this is a plug. It is a drain hole with
a rubber hose atached. I had some dirt in it and I used
a pencil to push the dirt down. I think that when it rains you will
need the water to go somewhere.

In the end, I found the courage/stupidity to remove another (they are tricky to get at properly). I was a bit worried by what Paul said, so I wanted to see if the other three had drain tubes attached. Fortunately, they really are just fancy grommets/plugs - just a rubber hole.

Anyway, the one I removed had a part number (999 703 476 40) for anyone who might need to know. I even (just) managed to get it back in without pushing it too far.

Strangely, when you search for this on PET, it turns up as item number 16 on page 107. What makes that strange is that it's not the ONLY item number 16 on page 107...

Why is it that every time I need some little, innocent part it gets complicated?

Anyway, thanks again for the help. At least it will give me something to write about.

John,

At this rate, you will be the most knowledgeable part item identifier on the entire forum. Keep it up; you will be the go-to-person!

Take care!
