Window Tint Costs
#5
Cost is a factor of the type of film used. At the very least make sure the film has a lifetime warranty for glue failure--and then think about the color fading. Black tint on cheaper film tends to turn blue with age.
You should expect to pay around $200 for a decent job using Lumar/3M/madico film warrantied against fading and glue failure. I see cars all over Dallas with cheap tint and the inevitable bubbles and bluing that comes with it. And tinters charge a pretty penny to remove tint that delaminates, especially for the back glass where you've got the defroster wires.
And if you want to go with ceramic film like Huper Optik--that runs $350-400. I's worth the extra money if you plan to keep the car as it offers the highest heat rejection and UV protection. It's noticeably better here in the Dallas heat compared to the Lumar tint I have on my daily driver A6, that won't be a long term keeper for me.

I got 35% on my Artic Silver 997...cost me $150 but had to get the driver's window redone (the shop did it for free of course under warranty) because the auto roll down feature caused the bottom to peel. I was told that was because the window automatically lowers when you open to clear and protect the seals (I knew that) but by doing so before the tint had a chance to set caused it to weaken and unroll/peel at the bottom.
