detailing - HOW

Your car was probably painted and cured and all that weeks ago and remember it had all that time on the long trip over on the boat to cure under that nice plactic latex protectant cover they stretch over the cars that you see if you're lucky enough to seen them roll off the trucks at actual delivery time. So I think you're okay. But I too have heard from autobody shop paint guys that you should wait 1 month after any re-paint/repair job so maybe a pointed question to your dealer about your particular vehicle's delivery may be needed in this case as they may know something that you were not made aware of.

BTW- I would recommend NEVER EVER washing a car with Dawn. The reason being it will dry out rubber seals, and lubricants around the windows, lights, etc. They then will eventually rot and leak. Dawn is for doing your greasy dishes and that is all it is for. Use P21S paintwork cleaner to remove old wax.

It's not the cheapest way, but you can find and pay a pro out on Autopia to come do your car the first time. You will learn first hand exactly how to do it. A good one will break out the halogen lights and show you flaws you didn't even know you had, then fix them.
Although I usually enjoy detailing myself, a minor lower back issue made me decide to hire someone for the first time, and I have no regrets at all.
