The 997 is a great car but eats tires in less than 10,000 miles which makes it too costly to run on a daily basis (2400. tires/balance and alignment by dealer)
I had a 2006 Mini S that was great and replaced it with a 2007 which is much better with the exception of the throttle skips from idle. It feels like turbo lag on initial take off. Drives me nuts. Press the sport mode and it improves but next time you start the car you need to reset the sport mode.

GTI. We just picked one up a couple of weeks ago. 4 doors, DSG. Good performance and easily upgradable via ECU tuning, turbo back exhaust, suspension mods, etc.
It was featured on the TV show Test Drive with Tommy Kendall earlier this year. It was enough get me back to VW again after a long hiatus.

Change the 328 to a 335 and I am there for a daily driver!
Make the A4 an A5 and I am also there with you!

Got my 997 in 2005 when I also had a BMW 330-zhp on company lease. After a year, replaced company car with a Honda Odyssey and the 997 became daily driver. With a soon to be teen driver and already 23.5k miles on my 997, just added a Mini Cooper S for me to commute in and teach my son to drive. The MCS is a great car to bop around town in and averages nearly 33 mpg with a bike rack on the roof. The 997 is still special and definitely drives with more authority. But it's nice to have something else to park at the airport and rack up the miles commuting. The MCS is a very fun car, feels quick, and one-third the price of my 997.
