Default Manuals for PCM & Chrono

I just purchased a 2005 997S Cab, and the Seller did not have the manuals for PCM or Chrono. In reading through the Owner's manual, there are numerous references to these manuals for details on those systems.

I couldn't find anything on the web to download, so fear I may have to pay a dealer to get them for me.

Does anyone know of a good way to get these manuals?

Check eBay. Occasionally those manuals are listed for sale.

Have you tried a search? I know I've seen them on here or another site before--maybe renntech?

The 1st link is to an older PCM manual.

The second link is to the MY06 owners manual which has all the sports chrono information in it. You will need to be a RennTech.org member to get to the manuals, but signup is free.

Is there a separate manual for the Sport Chrono? I thought the instructions for that were in the regular manual and the PCM manual.

There's no separate manual--it's a combination of the owner's manual and PCM manual.

Separate rant: what the heck do prior owners do that a used car doesn't come with its manuals? Am I the only person who puts the manuals, spare keys and other stuff in the car, before selling/trading in?

Believe me, I've read my manuals cover to cover (a new car ritual-obessive-compulsive thing) and there's nothing so riveting that I want to keep them after I no longer own the car.

I have a separate owner's manual and PCM manual. I am looking at both of them right now. At least that's how it is for an '06.

Here's a link to a PCM manual that's currently on eBay.

Correct. The OP asked about separate manuals for PCM and Sport Chrono.

Doesn't Dave Coochas have them on his site in PDF form?

Unfortunately, that's the way that some of us second owners got our cars. Initially tried to source them but found that there was enough info here to figure out what I needed.

Good idea. I did that, and found the PCM manual at the Newport Auto Center in Beach for $27 + tax, about the same price as EBay offer of $19 + $9 shipping. It is 420 pages, but half of it is the French version. It amazes me that the manual refers to button numbers in the text, but nowhere is there a picture showing the buttons and their number assignments. So why number them?

Another question for you experts on this system. I have a newer PCM in my 05 997S (first sold in June 05) with the SOS and SIM card slot, and software version 3.3. Also have Chrono. In the "Main Set" functions, I was surprised that my menu doesn't offer "Inidiv Memory" (page 28 of the manual). What "optional equipment" is required on the car to have this feature that allows setup of daytime running lights, light fade-out times, wiper settings, etc.? Does this mean I can't implement daytime running lights on mine?

Thanks for all your help and excellent technical knowledge of this topic.

I'm sure you already realise that the key has to be in, with the ignition on, for the Individual memory option to come up on the display (as the info for daytime lights etc etc is key specific).

I think the "optional equipment" was referring to the Sport Chrono Package Plus. I have this option in my car, and yes, I can adjust all the features from PCM. Also, it allows individual car-keys to program different settings on these features when unlocking the car.

With best regards,
