Default Brake install questions

I'm about to install a set of Pagid Orange, Goodridge lines, and Motul fluid on a 997 4S in prep for a track event and I have a couple questions about the install. First, what is the torque spec for the banjo bolt connecting the line to the caliper? Also, what is the bleed order and do I need to start the car and pump the pedal halfway through? TIA.

Cannot tell you about the torque spec question.

However, this site has brake pad and fluid changing instructions for the boxster which are the same for yours (the replacement pad #'s are different) with one caveat. On cars equipped with PSM (yours and all 997's), the recommended procedure is to use a PSTII tester when flushing the brake fluid, as it has a setting that causes the ABS pump to forcible evacuate itself. Take that with a grain of salt--is it necessary with every fluid change? Probably not, and myself and lots of other folks have been doing brake fluid changes for years on 996 Turbos without the PST II.

Hi,
You might want to reconsider the SS lines. I had them in my M3 and was about to order them. Several very respected tuners / racers highly suggested I do not use SS lines. I can't remember now the details - perhaps it was that under the rubber, the OEM lines are braided, or something like that.

I bleed (not flush) the fluid in my 987S before and after every track event without a tester, or even a power bleeder. However, if you drain the system you must have a PIWIS tester to operate the valves in the ABS pump or you will trap air bubbles in the system. You might be able to get them out by vigorously bleeding your brakes but there's no guarantees that way.

Also, I have no clue what the torque spec is for that nut as I've never needed to touch mine.

I wouldn't take the first class brakelines off that Carrera to put something inferior on.

The Porsche OEM is excellent.
