jrgordonsr, who gave you the idea of the by pass pipe? I have Fabspeed mufflers and am curious how and why it affects the sound and in what why from the stock Fabspeed sound.

The Fabspeeds were a gift from a fellow Rennlister who thought they were too quiet. My muffler shop, who races and set up my Cup for 91db. at Laguna Seca, suggested the bi-pass. He's done several now, always to stock mufflers, and now to my Fabspeeds.

FWIW, I weighed the stock muffler against the Fabspeeds and the difference was 2 lbs. per side, not 10 lbs. as advertised.....

Interesting on the weight issues/find! So does the by-pass pipe make the Fabspeed louder or quieter?

Slightly louder in the low RPM's that develops into a nice throaty roar at WOT....

Hope you got to see the animated version he posted once. Talk about hot. She's got this cute little smirk going on as she's dancing up there, bobbing her head from side to side as she's mouthing the words to the song she's listening, trying not to laugh as she feels the heat of the eyeballs staring up at her hoping to see more than they can see. Everytime I see his avatar that's what starts playing in my head. Maybe he'll post it up again for our hungry eyeballs.

I ran the Angles Crest Highway above LA today with a friend and his 997S with AWE headers, 100 cell cats, and a stock muffler with the bi-pass tube like mine. He originally had the AWE muffler too, but said it was just too loud. Man that thing was loud and throaty. I could hear him accelerate from behind me and mine's not quiet. He also has the stage 4 chip, H & R coilovers, Evo air box, and some other performance orientated parts. He is noticably faster than me, though the cars handle pretty evenly. Lots of bikes & CHP's up there today.....

Thanks for the info...I will wait until I get the cats done then make a decision.

Don't 100cell cats and even 200 cell cats set off the CEL? That is what most people have said .
