cast listed in order of appearance:
1975 VW Dasher, burnt red, white vinyl interior, 4 speed (from dad) learned the phrase "that's the best engineered broken part I've ever seen." learned a manual transmission and how to drive in the snow. eventually towed away by the township of Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania for being an eyesore parked in front of the house. she was a good companion.
1978 Mustant II, Peach colored, landau roof. - possibly the worst manufactured auto ever sold to non-communists. stalled when turning left for 2 years (some sort of punishment from dad to the entire family, not just me)
1982 Honda Nighthawk 450cc., burgundy. yes, i'm aware it's not a car, but i'm interpreting the term evolution. purchased with student amex after my parents took my car away for bad grades. refinanced with a student visa. parents eventually found out i had owned it at my wedding reception, 10 years later (when they also learned i was in a fraternity. more about that in another thread). lousy commute in the snow in college but manageable. earned me the college nickname "kid death".
1982 Pontiac J2000, blue with blue crushed velour interior. 4 spd. (from Dad) this had been a companion to our olds 98 diesel. OMG.
1986 Toyota Supra Mk 2, "sport version", white, burgundy cloth interior. 5 speed. my first purchase, from dad. the other ones i paid for with humiliation and control issues. multiple moving violations prompted the FBI to allege that i had a "disregard for the law" when investigating me for my security clearance, an assertion which i strongly rejected. gifted to my sister when she was getting her Ph.D.
1989 Acura Legend Coupe LS, british racing green, tan leather interior. this was a nice car
1966 Datsun 1600 Roadster, candy apple red. chick magnet. perfect in south carolina. sold just after meeting my future wife.
1992 Acura Legend L Sedan, charcoal with black leather interior - needed 4 doors to take clients around. hammered by an uninsured driver so i sold it TO dad eventually. payback is hell
1988 Acura Legend LS sedan, gold with tan leather interior. needed a car for grad school. purchased from future father in law. hocked for engagement ring eventually. sold with 166k mi to our nanny's son. still on the road.
1998 Volvo V70 Cross Country. getting ready to have a family. POS. 2 air conditioning units replaced, are you kidding me? in Seattle? it's not like we're in texas...kept as a 3rd car until donation to my college roomate after a particularly messy divorce on his part. currently parked with a bad alternator and no income on his part.
1997 MB E420 sport, silver with oyster interior. lotsa fun.
1999 E55, silver, black leather interior. the teutonic sled is still in the driveway. needs a driver side mirror glass, $550 retail. sheesh. 72k mi.
2006 ML 350. black/black wife's 40th birthday present. i wanted a cayenne but she preferred the MB. put it in the driveway with a big red bow. typically the filthiest looking car at the morning drop off line.
2007 Carrera S. silver on black. after 10 years of lobbying for a porsche, my wife agreed that it was not a universal symbol for napoleonic syndrome. purchased 2 weeks after her "agreement", which was more of a statement that "yeah, they're ok." not a single complaint yet.
in the market for:
2009 PDK, possibly a GT3 but i think i need some back seats. also, a MB GL (she wants a 3rd row now. i told her we'd need to carpool).

what a cool thread!
1993 Ford Probe: Black. Great first sports car. I felt bad *** even though it went slow.
1997 Audi A4. Midnight blue. Loved the quattro when I was living in Boston. Great until my Ex - father-in-law backed into it in his Chevy Suburban. The crash had nothing to do with my divorce. I'm serious.
2006 Porsche Carrera: Silver. I nickname her "my mistress".
In the market for a Targa.
