Default In-Dash CD Player Noise

When I have the doors unlocked, but don't insert the key into the ignition, the in-dash CD player makes a noise every minute or so. It sounds like it is trying to eject a disc, but a disc isn't in the player.

Does anyone else's in-dash CD player do this?

Thanks, Bob

Are you implying that the noise goes away when the doors are locked?

I do not lock the door when it's in the garage. The CD player would make noise (not everytime) when I open the door. It even ejected the CD by itself a few times. Not sure if it has anything to do with the issue but I have the homemade MP3 disc inside the player.

Does the noise stop when you turn on the key?

Yes, it does if I start the car.

Mine does exactly the same thing (even ejecting the CD a couple of times).
I don't even notice it anymore. I chalked it up to just another oddity in the way the Germans handle "electronics" versus, say, the Japanese.
Not a criticism...just an observation.

Had that noise with my 996 occasionally when I opened the driver door. Never ejected a CD, though.

It stops when I turn the ignition on. Based on the responses, appears to be "normal". Thanks for your help.
