I have had the slow clock on my list for 2.5 years at the dealer and they finally fixed it.........BUT GET THIS.......it took a whole new unit which houses the radio, etc to get it done. The part was $3,400. plus shipping and Labor. Can you believe this for service by Porsche. They could have bought me a Rolex for less or just paid me to shut up and adjust the clock once a week like I have been doing.
But that is what PORSCHE is all about!

Dang!
How much time per day did the clock lose? IF you got a Rolex it would tell time about like your clock in your car.

I just took my 997 in for this issue. My clock lows by about 5 minutes per month. They are checking if there might be a software fix but if not they will have to replace the entire dash unit. I'm not sure I want them taking the dash out for this.... I don't have any squeeks and don't want any ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I complained about mine ealrier this year and the dealer said that it was a software problem and was a low priority for Porsche to fix. Mines off by about 5 minutes per month

The problem is not with software but rather hardware however it can be remedied with software. Back in a day a clock on a busy server would actually run slower because there was no dedicated "hardware" clock. Instead, clock was implemented via software and relied on normal CPU to count time. So if CPU was too busy, clock would get late. Porsche knows about how many seconds per day are lost and could update firmware to account for that but its a hack. Hey its a sports car and as long as it fulfills that purpose, I dont care if everythign else is broken or falling off.

So when you get out of your car after a fast run, your interior clock is now slower than all the clocks outside.
Doesn't take an Einstein to work that one out!

Yes, it was Bert Smith. They do a nice job.
Yes, an oil change at the dealer has about the same value as a Rolex!
Yes, I did get the latest unit which can support a telephone, SOS, etc. My stereo was stock and it seems that this new one has better tone quality.
When I go East I loose time and when I drive West I gain time, so to loose time I must drive East more than West.

...another reason to have the Navigation system....they say the internal clock gets its time off GPS with those systems. Mine is spot on with WWV.
