What texas911 doesn't mention is that he's the honorary "box of matches" on the 993 board and usually just shows up to bash 993s.
BullCrap! I post when there is a bashfest against the 996/7 or newer Porsche model, it looks like I'm bashing the 993 when I'm not glorifying it like the end all be all of Porsches.

Don't ever post any disparaging words against the 993 on the 993 forum, or you'll be labeled an infidel.

Whether they feel their car is superior, or they feel that they are superior, those are two different things.

no.....as a 993 owner, I love my car but appreciate other models like the 997...not loving the 996, but respect it....its an estetic thing for me...

Also, for us guys in the early 30's, we have been admiring the 993 for 10yrs+ now and can finally get one...thats alot of emotional wear

no ... hopefully we all love the car we drive, and can
also appreciate other people's choice in automobile.

agreeing with a couple of other posters.....you'll find many who believe they (as individuals) are superior because of the car they drive...then there are those who simply think their car is the best. all boards are littered with both. what makes the world go 'round me thinks.

DG,

The air-cooled cars are superior.

I know it, you know it, and the American people know it.

I certainly don't have a superiority complex. I just think that the 993 is the best looking Porsche ever. There is no question that the later cars will out perform it, but it strikes the right balance of performance, quality and affordability. If I was a track junky with deeper pockets, I would own a 997 GT3. Hell, who am I kidding, I just need the deeper pockets!

As a current 993 owner, I can say, Yes, some 993 owners do have a complex. I caught some flak for buying a 997 Turbo.. Having said that, I don't think 993 owners are anti 997, most of them encouraged me to wait for a GT3 (but I already have a track car, the 993..) and wanted a more "street dedicated" car.

In conclusion, I don't hear 993 owners bashing older 911's, nor do I hear them bashing the 997. The only general comment I can make is, most 993 owners do not have a strong affinity for the 996.

No. The fact that I am here checking out the 997 scene and ran across this post proves that point.

Besides....I love all Porsches...well...ok...almost all of them...

Please disregard Texas911 comments...he's always looking for a fight.

To me it is simple -- the more superior one is always the one that came with the most updated and advanced safety technologies. The one that when I drive it on the road or track, it will better preventing me from an accident and protecting me during one.

With best regards,

I had and loved my 993 C4S, but just ask a die hard 993 guy if he would trade up to a 997 GT3 and the truth will come out!

I will miss my 993 and will have one again.
