Default Help From Houston Rennlisters Please

Visiting from the 993 board....

I have a colleague in Houston looking to purchase a 997. Probably targa w/ tiptronic (will be a daily driver). What is the best dealership to work with and what kind of discount can he expect off sticker. My guess is that this will be a $90k+ MSRP, so I am thinking $5-10k off, depending on 06 vs. 07 vs. 08, etc... (?)
Thanks,

Try Chris at North-Olmsted Porsche. Quite a few people have posted good experiences with him. He lurks on this board as Likemystoppie.

No affiliation.

Avoid the dealerships in Houston. Both are owned by Sonic and provide less-than-stellar customer service. I bought my Boxster from one of them in '05 and went back earlier this year for a 997S and was treated poorly. Guess they're not interested in repeat business.

I did just this. They're delivering my new 997S on Wednesday of next week.

Another vote for Chris at North-Olmstead Porsche. He took care of a friend of mine.

Where is North-Olmstead in relation to Houston (?) Guess we could go do the research...

thanks for all the great advice.

EDIT: I see that it is in Ohio... I think that he is probably hoping for something a little closer...

After giving both Houston dealerships a shot, I ended up buying a car from Roger Beasley in Austin. Well worth the drive from Houston to Austin and back. (took my avatar pic on the way back home) I did the entire deal over the phone/email, and never met the salesman till I went to pick up the car. They were very pleasant to deal with, and gave me a much better price than I could get in Houston. I've had good luck (so far) with Momentum for service, and the service folks could care less where you bought the car.

Ordered my TT from Chris. They are in Cleveland. Would make for a nice drive back or they can ship the car.

Don't be afraid of buying out of state. Shipping the car is no problem. In fact they can deliver to your work or home. Can't beat it for convenience. I bought mine out of state and was the easiest and fastest transacion I have ever done

If he must, get it from Momentum. Ask for Rodger Gay. He's sold a ton of Porsches. True they'll nickle and dime you but if its in stock, he might be able to get a discount.

How's this, they add vehicle etching on cars now? WTF? I didn't know I was buying a Toyota! And of course they have the total ripp off "dealer services" fee, which is totally bogus on a $90k+ car. So the advice to avoid the Houston dealers aren't baseless.

I walked out of a Honda dealership a few years ago over the bs VIN etching charge they popped on me at the last minute. Just got up and left. I got back to my office & the salesman called and said "ok, we'll drop the charge on that". Sometimes you've got to show them you mean business.

Jonathan, please see my private message in your box. My experience in Houston echoes the opinions rendered in this post. I probably would never buy a "new" Porsche again, at least not here in H-town.

Bought my 2005 997S from Brian Herlin at Advantage Porsche in Houston on I-10. He's a good guy, No BS, shoots straight with the customer and knows Porsches cause he's been selling them for over 20 years. He' not some cheery, happy go lucky sales guy though that will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling while talking on the phone or meeting in person, but so what! You get the Porsche you want with none of the BS attached. Brianhas beenworking at Advantage Porsche since the 80's. Larry in the service department is a knowledgable dude as well, whenever you bring the Porsche in for service. Good Luck, don't waste time going out of state to get a car unless you find the car you want out of state.
