You must have made this drive a couple times. I did it in the fall close to peak. All I can say it was the only time I wasn't looking to drive hard into the corners. It has to be right up there with Big Sur for my top 10 drives

For what it's worth, I just got offered $80.5K for a build-to-order 2007 allocation Carrera Cabriolet without even trying to negotiate ($87.4K MSRP).
Some dealers are arrogant enough to expect you to pay MSRP for a build to order car. But you can find good dealers who are willing to negotiate if you're patient, look around, and are willing to take delivery outside of your local geography.
My bet is that high volume dealers are the most likely to negotiate, as are dealers in highly competitive markets, and ones that are located in areas where the demographics don't include a ton of high income households as a percentage of the general population.
Be persistent and good luck!

Been shopping for a high-demand 335i coupe. Both Scottsdale dealers offered a few hundred off msrp. Called'em both on April 29th. Offered two thousand off sticker. One bit for $1500 off. Also, forced a .00185 lease money factor out of them (sweet deal: $2500 down, $559/mo 3yrs).
Salesguy admitted that end-of-month push was why they made the deal.

I have studied leasing very carefully since I'm a good candidate for a lease, but I have never seen one that makes financial sense except for those who are able to deduct the leasing expense. But hell, if I could get a 4.4% leasing rate, I'd lease every time. I'm wondering how the leasing company made any money from your deal, since your leasing rate is far below the prime interest rate.
I'm editing my post because I just went to lease compare to get quotes on a base $41K 335 with no options and a $2500 down payment. The following is what I got and it doesn't include taxes:
Bank Lease B 36 months - $21,473 - 0.00280 - $680
Bank Lease A 36 months - $20,648 - 0.00258 - $682
Bank Lease D 36 months - $16,518 - 0.00397 - $875

BMW makes their brand desireable and accessible, and the product doesn't dissappoint. The BMW and Porsche marketing approaches are really something to behold.
