When did you perform your first service
At what intervals does everyone change their oil. I do not expect to wait until 20,000 miles as mentioned by the dealer. I will have pics of my new C2 soon.

It's interesting that Porsche, who has nothing to gain by telling you 20,000, and much to gain by saying less (more service money for sooner oil changes). I think my plan will be once a year or every 10k whichever comes first. I expect to put on 7-8k a year (our season is short here in CT), so right before putting her to bed for the winter, change the oil.

I think once-a-year is a reasonable service interval for those of us not doing 20k a year.
I drove about 8000 miles in my first year; probably will do the same or slightly less the second year.
I just could not leave the original oil in the car for more than two years no matter what Porsche said.

With Mobil 1 anything earlier than 12 months or 10,000 miles would be simply money tossed down the drain. We writeherein about out concern with Porsche honoring their warranty on engines yet they only expect an oil service at 20,000 miles (generally). I did mine at about 6500 miles and it really didn't need it,--but it was interesting to see what things looked like. One of the problems with no dip-stick is that we can't really even LOOK at our oil during it's service life. Only when we drain it can we evaluate it.
Just keep good records. I maintain a diary - log book on all my cars and I record every liter of oil, every oz of coolant, and every gallon of fuel I put into the car, with the date. Of course, I record every part that has been replaced or modification that has been made, with mileage and date.

Once a year, I would think. 20k does seem like a long time, but synth oil changes the game dramatically. I've put 6.5k on my 997 in the first year; I'm expecting to do at least twice that this year, soooo... in to the dealer next month for 1st change at about 7,000 miles...

Just to toss this in. Peter Smith at the PCA site, says cut the Porsche recommendation in half, i.e. 10K miles between changes. There are several tech Q&A's on this on the PCA site
