How many miles and years do we put on our 997's?

LOL That's a good question. I guess everytime we go out, I show so much joy of driving the P-Car, she understand why my errand take a long time. An occasional bribe also help. ie shoes, purse, day spa certificate etc...

I've put about 7,000 miles in 9 months. Was going to try and keep around that for the year but have to much fun driving her. I know some people might think that isn't many miles, but consider I have a truck as a daily driver. I have to work out of the truck.

I'll have had mine a year by the end of April (in fact, the car was born March 15th 2006 when it got it's VIN - happy B'day car!) but I've only managed to put on 4200 miles thus far, mostly because I travel so much. It was always my plan to keep it a long time, despite the temptation that is the GT3, but that's another story. I kept my '95 993 coupe because I couldn't stand to part with it and still use it as does my wife - she uses it more than me, actually, and has taken to refering to it as 'her Porsche'. That car is bulletproof. I have a feeling that with all the electronics in the 997 it might not be as reliable when it's 12 years old.

I have a habit of buying a whole pie, eating a just a small slice, then putting it in the fridge. Then I try to eat in moderation a little every day, but alas, in the process of saving some for the next day, I inevitably end up waiting too long and wasting half the pie and throwing it away. I vowed I wouldn't treat my car like that. Moderation, shmoderation... I'm driving it every chance I get! What will I regret more? Not driving my super-car, or putting too many miles on it?
Having said that, my wife won't let me drive it in the rain... so I'm stuck in my Subaru on those days.

I am used to upgrading every several years, but I think about keeping the 997S for a long time now that I have a 356 too (which I drive a lot). I don't mind the risk of "normal" somewhat expensive repairs, but the thing that scares the hell out of me going bare after warranty is the prospect of having to replace the entire engine or tranny, something that is not unheard of with the water pumpers. Sometimes I also think about selling the 997S before the warranty expires and replacing it with a 993 as a permanent keeper - then perhaps add another earlier 911 or two to the collection. Hard to believe the warranty will expire a year from August - time flies!

8K miles in 10 months. Parked the P-Car during crappy DC weather and drove my hooptie (07 C280 4M). My plan is to keep the C2S for at least 5 to 7 years..mechanical risk covered by 7 year extended warranty. The C2S is a classic that will only get better with age (and perhaps mods...F77 anyone?).

Miles of smiles.....
20 Months...... 34,000 miles......
Don't ask me where all those miles came from. I work a mile from my home.
Hmmm.... maybe it's those 100 mile trips through the mountains to get a Jamba Juice......

Picked up my car in August and have about 14,300 miles as of yesterday. 225 track miles, 1 autocross, and another track day coming in May. She's getting a workout. I have no plans to part with the car for at least another couple years.

So far I am 7 mos out and I've put only about 3-4k on it. Is not my daily driver so it has spent all winter nice and warm in the garage except for the occasional day trip on a nice day. Expect that to change as soon as the weather settles down on the East Coast.
