I am on the autopia website - they have a lot to choose from...whats the best product to prolong the life of my cab's top?

While you're there check the user ratings of the products. You can also post your question there as those who frequent that site are most familiar with the products featured there.

I used to use the Porsche products when I had my Boxster 6 yrs ago. They were top notch back then.

There may be better products out there now and the people there are probably the most knowledgeable if you're looking to go with the best products.

It's easier to register there than here, and is really no hassle either. But if you're looking to buy the best product from that site, it makes sense to ask those who are most familiar with the products sold there. There are quite a few Porsche cab owners there too.

Or, you can post your question in the detailing forum here. There are quite a few knowledgeable individuals in that forum who can best answer your questions.

I purchased and use RAGGTOPP. I read about the product a year ago on (I believe) this web site.

It cleans, restores and protects well, and was very easy to use. In fact, it recently removed a wax stain from my rag top. You can't even tell it was there....the stain that is!

dariof - did you get the the vinyl top protectant or the fabric/vinyl cleaner? or canvas top protectant?

Use the fabric stuff,--NOT the vinyl.

Re-proofing is a PIA - lots of masking-off required to keep the protectant off the paint work and rear window.

Last time I did the 986 we had a re-proofing party and did 5 cars at the same time.

Got pretty good at it by the end, and we could re-use the masking sheets from car to car which saved a whole bunch of time.

I was told in simular forum that Raggtopp was a good cleaner and sealant.
