New Porsche First Post
Hi:
Just took delivery of my 07 2CS. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from browsing the forum. Here's a so so picture of my car. I got it 2 days ago after overcoming my built in aversion to spending money!
So far I haven't even begun to understand what I've got. So, any newbie tips would be greatly appreciated.
BTW: I did bring it home from the dealer, re-wash it, cleaned the paint with Maguires cleaner, then two coats of Klasse sealant. I had run out of the Klasse All In One, or I would have started with that.

I'm a relative newbie, too, so welcome. After I bought my 05 C2S cab, I did a few things immediately: 1) unplugged the PSE switch so it's on all the time, 2) got clear side markers (from Eric at Bumperplugs.com), and 3) installed the smart-top so I can open/close the top remotely. Since you have the coupe, that won't apply to you, but it's really fun to play with. I also did a few things that I regretted, such as getting a car cover (I've used it once in the past 6 months), and NOT getting a clear bra. If you want a clear bra, you have to get it soon, before you get your first chip marks. It's too late for me... I drove to Santa Barbara and back on Hwy 1, and now the front end looks like a young teenager's face.
Good luck and happy driving!

Congratulations. Reference Jimmy's experience with Route 1 and rock chips you need to drive these cars differently. Keep in mind that you have plenty of power so you need not suck up behind the guy you want to pass (and risk more damage from their cast offs). Just pass from far back and then maintain suitable distance from the guys in front. You can always get a decent bra for such road trips (a normal bra) and avoiding going with the clear bra look. Remember, these are cars, and not objects d'art, and should be driven as much as possible but not revered from afar in your garage.
What sort of stuff came with the car? Did you order it?
