Congratulations. Reference Jimmy's experience with Route 1 and rock chips you need to drive these cars differently. Keep in mind that you have plenty of power so you need not suck up behind the guy you want to pass (and risk more damage from their cast offs). Just pass from far back and then maintain suitable distance from the guys in front. You can always get a decent bra for such road trips (a normal bra) and avoiding going with the clear bra look. Remember, these are cars, and not objects d'art, and should be driven as much as possible but not revered from afar in your garage.
What sort of stuff came with the car? Did you order it?
Thanks. The dealer offered 3m clear protector but I declined. I have heard good and bad about that solution. I'm in the practice of following at a distance already, but most likely will be even more concious now. My other car is a MB ML350. I was in the real estate development business until retiring early at the end of 06, so I spent a fair amount of time on construction sites. Lots of stone chips from that and our Beltway traffic.
Anyway: I did not order. I bought it off the lot. I was reading with interest all the posts about discounts from MSRP. My experience was, pretty much in line. Had I been willing to buy an 06 Targa that was loaded, I could have gotten $10+ off and so on with a couple other cars. But, this one was so well spec'ed that I could only get them down 4% off MSRP.
It has NAV, Bose, heated seats, self dimming mirrors, Sports Chrono, power seats.
I always look at the state inspection sticker on the dealer's inventory to see how long each car has been on the lot. They had some as far back as 11/06, but no C2S's. This car arrived at the dealer in March 07.
Congrats...nice color...make sure you join us for one of the local drive and greets with the fellow Rennlisters. I've done two last fall and had a great time.
