Default Carrera III 18" wheels

I am thinking about getting a second set of wheels in 18 inch to see if they are a little more compliant around town. There are a few sets of Carrera III wheels at Wheel Enhancement for a good deal. I really like the simple look. Does anyone have any real world experience to determine if this design is less prone to wheel rash from curbs?

If you hit a curb, it's gonna leave a mark. The 18s are still low-profile.

I use them as track wheels with Hoosiers. Even with track tires on, street driving is surprisingly comfortable on the 18's. I have hit many a rub strip at the track with them and they hold up very, very well. Curb rash is going to depend more upon the tire than the wheel. Some tires have a much more prominent protection strip than others

Wheel Enhancement is getting $450 ea.
I just bought a set locally, 8's and 11's. I can't use the 11's, I need 10's.

I have a set of Carrera III's that I'm about to post for sale, they are 10/10 cosmetically, recently powdercoated black and come with TPMS and matching black center caps.
I found the ride to be more compliant with the slightly higher profile. I also believe curbing should be less of an issue with the higher sidewall but that's just speculation. What you really need is a tire that is far wider than the rim.

interesting, this is one of my "complaints" about the 19's, I'd really like a "softer" ride.

There was a set of C - III wheels on sale in the classifieds with winter tires for a little more than a grand - this happens regularly - I paid 1100 for a set with winter rubber a year ago.

I paid $375 per rim from Wheel Enhancement in September for Carrera III's and they were new rims.

Jay H,
I just played email tag with WE yesterday, trying to swap 11x18 for 10x18 wheels, Carrera III's, $450 ea.
I bought a set of Carrera III's 8's & 11x 18's with Nokia winter tires for $1400 and can't use them!!!

Maybe my 8 and 10 inch rims were cheaper for WE to source. I wanted to give you another data point to compare pricing. All is well, no offense meant.

I had a poor tire experience with Wheel Enhancement the last time I dealt with them. I've bought two sets of rims from them with no issues though I don't trust them anymore.
