Default Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

Has anyone try this one. Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position.

It has rating of 96W and 400AAA. Is this good enough for our car? Is it good enough for the track? I never go more than 130MPH on the track anyway. Does it corner well?

It costs about 1/2 of the PS2 that I currently have.

Thanks

I've bought the tires you are referring to by mistake , and if you read the thread by Mr. Bonus you'd see I was asking the same question about 2 weeks ago. They are an all season tire supposally make more noise than a summer high performance but I don't hear ant difference I had michelin PS2 prior to these, I must say so far so good . I 'm not a racer and I'm not half as fussy as most of the guys here. As far as the 96W 400 AAA , I'm sure they would not be recommended if they were any kind of hazard PS. W is rated at 168 mph Y is at 186 mph 96 has a load capacity of 1565 lbs while the 100 is 1764 lbs. 400 AAA has got to do with the tire wear and I know these will last longer than my orignal. The decision is yours my friend

Thanks alot Bdmason. I am going to get the tires. No reason to pay more for PS2. I am not fanatic about tires anyway and probable wouldn't notice the difference. On the track, I am just having fun and not pushing the car to the limit anyway. Will give an update once I got the tires.

I'm just curious if anybody has any updates after putting some miles on the RE960AS tires. I am due for a set myself and am tired of burning through the Pzero's every six months.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

i have these on my G35 coupe. they ride much quieter than the factory Pilot Sports did. they are a good all season tire, but they are not track material. the tread blocks are too small and will cup. also, they are a more 'comfortable' tire and lack the sidewall stiffness of a more aggressive tire.

great for touring; they're simply not a super high performance tire.

This is the best performance all season tire we sell at the time. Bridgestone redesigned the RE950 and this was the result. They are quiet, class leading in the rain (their Uni-T rubber composition at work), have a 45k warranty. I definitely would recommend them.

That's exactly the info I needed. Thank you both very much.

I have been burning pzeros at a rate of 2 sets of rears for every set of fronts and am at the point where I need all four. 20,000 miles / year = a lot of tires.

I think I'll give these a try.

Thanks again.

I have about 3000 miles on a set I like them better than the piolet sports but I must say that the michelin look much better appearance wise.

My car came from the factory with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires. The are beginning to have flat spots (12,000 miles) and I'm thinking of changing to PS2's. How do the Potenza RE050A's compare to the PS2's?

Damon - 45K warranty??? Does that include tread wear? If so, buying one set could cover 2-3 sets on our cars!

Yeah, I'm curious about that as well especially since those are the tires that I just bought from Damon and Tirerack for my 944.

How would we make a warranty claim through Tirerack? Is it if one of their recommended installers examines the tires and finds them to be worn before 45k?

Anyway, they wouldn't give you brand new tires, they take "the percent of warranted mileage obtained is multiplied by The Dealer’s then current selling price for the replacement tire(s)."

Here's the whole warranty:

"Supplemental Limited Mileage Warranty
Supplemental Mileage Limited Warranty for passenger and light truck tires indicated below.

Who is covered by this supplemental warranty?
This supplemental mileage limited warranty only covers the original purchaser, and only for so long as the tires covered hereby remain mounted on the vehicle described in the Customer Identification Section (page 15 of this manual). Original equipment tires on new vehicles have no mileage warranty.

What is covered and for how long?
This supplemental mileage limited warranty covers the passenger and light truck tires listed below used in noncommercial service. Tires branded “USED” are not warranted.

If a covered tire wears evenly across the tread down to the tread wear indicators (2/32nds of an inch of tread remaining) during the stated warranted mileage for that tire, as evidenced by the vehicle’s odometer, or within 5 years from the date of retail purchase (proof of purchase required), whichever comes first, for any reason other than those described under “What This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover” on page 3 of this manual, such tire will be replaced with an equivalent new tire, upon payment of the replacement price as defined in the “Replacement Price” section below.

Replacement Price
To determine replacement price, the percent of warranted mileage obtained is multiplied by The Dealer’s then current selling price for the replacement tire(s). Taxes, mounting and balancing, disposal fees, or other service charges may be added to the adjustment price.

The covered tires are warranted as follows:
