PDE in April
As a birthday gift, my wife signed me up for PDE in Birmingham in April. While I have read a lot of great reports from others who have taken this course, I am a bit intimidated, never having done this before. I would appreciate any advice from those who have done this before in terms of what to expect, things I can do to avoid killing myself and others, etc. Thanks in advance.

Breathe. Relax. Enjoy.
Hundreds of people have gone through this course and survived it quite well without killing themselves or their cars. The course is design to be enjoyed by people at all skill levels. Hell, even I did it successfully and I have killed a few cars in my day!
Just focus on having a good time and you'll be fine. No one is going to force you to do something you're not comfortable with.
Relax and enjoy the experience.

You lucky bastard!!
You'll end up with a better understanding on how to properly drive a 997 in the way it should be driven.

Deanski

Like MJones said, relax and ENJOY it! Nothing to worry about except wiping the grin off your face. Have fun. I went last summer and had a blast!

Get plenty of rest and
It's exciting and a bit fatiguing from the concentration and the euphoria. Relax and come into it fully rested, with plenty of sleep.
Otherwise, bring (or buy) a baseball cap for the autocross, sunglasses, comfortable clothes and good shoes (e.g., Pilotis, Oakley's, Puma Future Cats) for heel and toe exercises. They'll provide plenty of water and the food is very good.

Just got back from PDE today from a 3/1 and 3/2 class. It was FANTASTIC, you will have a blast and learn a lot about driving. After PDE, I realize I am only utilizing about 25% of the performance of my car. I highly recomend this course, it is well worth the money!

It is a great course. The track is awesome. The musem is incredible, take a camera. You will be grouped according to experience. It is all a lead follow experience. No one gets left behind or pushed too hard. Great class for learning the ins and outs of a rear engine car. Instruction is the best! Not all track time, also has autocross, skid pad and other courses. Its a blast! Not as all out as you can go at DE but you will learn much more....

PDE is great for people with limited driving experience.
When I went only 4 out of 20+ had every been on a track at all.
They group you with others of similar experience and keep you safe.
Still lots of fun for all.
