I am going down to the dealer this weekend to place my deposit on the 998S. Has anyone any info on the next generation?

 

It's not a 998, just a minor update of the 997. Direct injection yielding a 15 hp increase and 10% better fuel mileage, optional double-disc clutch which doesn't require throttle lift during shifting, a minor rework of the front bumper, and droopy LED rear tail lights. That's it.

Not referring to the tweaked 997. Any info on the 998? It is supposed to be released sometime in 2009 from what I hear, as a 2010 model. Any info?

 

998 unlikely to be here before 2012. I wouldn't hold your breath...

But seriously, Porsche has not stated officially that there will ever be a 998. Unless you know something we don't it's only pure speculation at this point. For all we know the 997 may be the end of the line for the 911.
