It sounds to me like you don't need a daily driver. What you need is a secondary vehicle for crappy weather. How many months of crappy weather do we have here in the Mid Atlantic? Maybe 2?

I have a $10,000 '00 Jeep Wrangler I bought last year. It works perfect in crappy weather.....and its fun to play around in as well.

You can drive your PCar March - December.

Another viable option I am kicking around. I just figured that if I bought a daily driver, I would end up using it more often anyway so why not pick something fun?

i had a cooper s for 3 years as my 2 nd car. with winter tires it was a tank.
traded it last spring on an '04 VW r 32. 250 hp all wheel drive and a german feel.
not to put down the mini, but it the appointments and build quality are top notch.
with this one and winter tires I'm like a little kid, anxiously waiting for snow so I can go out and play.
i caught the bug, and changed it over to euro suspension played with the intake added a borla, short shift and some nice 17" bbs wheels.
a great complement to the porsche

I hear the Mazdaspeed3 is fast & fun, but the looks sure are ordinary. A Mini Cooper as a more useable vehicle for the winter? Uh... Maybe if you had it modified like the ones in "The Italian Job" so it could drive down subway staircases....

Clearly, the warm climate people cannot fully appreciate the beauty of spring and summer because they don't have a bitter cold February as a frame of reference. In many ways, I pity them.

It's okay. I accept you for who you are regardless of your inferior weather.

It's true that they have been banned. Story I heard is that they were banned because they kept ending up belly up on the side of the track.

I bought a Ford truck for a daily. I drive it over curbs, throw **** in and on it. Nice to not worry about a car like where you park it, who drives it, stone chips, etc...
