Default Tiny pink leaks

Recently I have discovered an occasional pink drop on my white floor in the garage after parking the car overnight. It appears to come from the bottom aft area of the engine. I asked my service guys to check it out and they reported that the coolant cap was on crooked (I never touched it, I swear!) and that it was a little low.

I asked them if it was more easily traceable with a black light and they said they didn't know. So, the other evening, with the house lights off and the black light out and on I saw the source,--a connection near a black rubber hose at the back and near the center of the engine. My service guy says that the system was put under pressure for several hours with no leak down, but I'm still seeing this stuff once in awhile. Anyone else seeing their 997 'bleeding' on the floor? I'm going to clean what's on the bottom of the engine with brake cleaner and see if it will repeat this leak problem again. Will snap a picture tonight maybe to show the problem area.

Here's a couple of pictures. The view is from the rear of the engine, with the image parallel to the ground. On the left side the pink seepage is visible while I have cleaned off the majority of it on the right side to see if this continues after some local drives.

Coolant leaks up front at the radiator hose connections are not uncommon, and usually require just a connenection or hose replacement. A leak in the engine area however can be more serious. Since the system is always pressurized (removal of the cap when cool will ceritfy no major leak if pressure escapes) many leaks begin with a slight loss of coolant before any drip is seen. Once a drip begins, it will worsen as the preesure of the system enhances the problem. By the time many a dealer will get to the problem, you may be on the road with total loss of coolant. The "slight drip needs to be immedaitely fixed. I know this from experience.

Edgy01 - you have a problem

Time to get tough at the dealership and get it fixed.

They just gave you the standard 'go away' BS last time.

Print up the pictures, and get this thing into their workshop.

Or, try anther dealership if you don't trust the first one.

Driving the car at this point is probably only going to make things worse.

I sent this picture to the service guy last night. Hopefully they won't give me the usual bum's rush.

Definitely a problem. Something is failing and THAT is your first clue. Are they asking you to proceed to the second clue? WOW. IOW, If you want to check a water pump, an AC pump, or hose connection, etc., (on any car) crud like that is an indication that it's leaking and it's days are numbered.

My pink fluid story involves my former 996TT. Found the drops on the garage floor (white tile), 8K on the car and intermittent drips. dealer said it was a loose cap, even though I could see it was from below. They said I should "drive it more" and keep the seals wet.
Traded it in with same dealer for a 997S after I got tired of it ( I over modded), and went back a few weeks later to buy a Cayyenne for my wife. The sales guy said that the Turbo I traded in had a coolant leak and would cost them $8000.00 to repair.
Sounds almost fictional, and I usually get hosed on trade-ins, but I felt a little good that day

Sounds like the same tale. They claimed my cap was on crooked and it was pressure tested later and found fine. I'll push up the whining.

I will contact my service manager this week and push him to a solution. I noticed some more on the floor in the garage on Saturday after spending most if Friday driving around. It is beyond a seep. It's a leak in my way of defining it. It will go in Wednesday evening.

I'll have to review the service manual to see what it states (warm or hot engine vice cold).

Sadly, I think most mechanics these days simply follow check lists, instead of LOOKING at the obvious things.
