Default Rim swap question

Quick question from a new member.

Can I place the turbo wheels from a 997TT onto a 997 S?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, but I think you need to get some spacers. Check the offsets. The TT offsets are less than those on the 997S.

Call John, Dave, or Alan at Wheel Enhancement in L.A.
They'll know exactly what you need to make TT wheels work on an S.
Plus, they're really good guys.

You dont need spacers in the front and I believe you would need something like 17mm spacers in the rear. The TT is a widebody and the S isnt. Factory offset in the S is 68 and in the 4S and TT is 51. Guys? Do I have this down correctly?

I think it's the other way around - if you put the 68mm on a TT (or C4) you have to add the 17mm spacer so I think if you put the 51mm on a C2 it will already extend 17mm more than the OEM 68mm. So if your S is a C2 it will probably work - just 17mm further out on the rear. Good advice to check with the guys at WE.

Oh you are right. My bad. Its the other way around. The 51 offset is a wheel that will push the outer part potentially further out on a narrow body car.
17mm out in the rear is quite big... possibly outside the fenders... I dont think its good.
I wonder if the turbo wheel comes at a 68mm offset for narrow bodies...

Maybe he'd like the GT3 wheel - it's for narrow bodies.

You guys are all right. Spoke to a few dealers, and the guys at wheel enhancement (awesome guys by the way) the 997TT rim would just fit. The dealers said no way. Go figure. I am not going to risk it, but I will look into the GT3wheel.

Thanks

I'd stick with narrowbody wheels if you can. Otherwise, they'll stick out too much. There are some very nice aftermarket options out there - much lighter and stronger than oem and probably for the same or less money.
