i had the dealer attempt to fix a rattle in a speaker 3 times. finally i decided to do it myself with felt tape. it was obvious to me what the problem was after taking things apart. dealers must half *** repairs like rattles and noises.

500,
I've got the same clanking noise coming from behind the right rear seat. Did you ever find the cause of your "rattles." I just bought an '07 997S Cab and it's really heartbreaking to discover this 2 days later!

I don't have a cab so your rattle might be coming from a different source than mine but mine was from the rear deck lid arms and they put felt tape on them...Geez where would Porsche be without this stuff???

What is a rear decklid arm? Does my cab have one?

Should have called it the engine lid..there are arms/hinges on both sides and where they come in to contact with the body when closing is where the rattle was, so they put felt tape on the contact points of the arms/hinges.

I think you might be on to something. I first noticed the clanking after I fiddled with the height of the rubber "legs" on the engine lid. Of course, now I cannot make the clanking go away. If you would be so kind, WHERE exactly did you place the felt tape???

I found an easy fix for rattles in my car: there's a little button near the hand brake... when I press it, the top of the car comes off, and then it's so loud when I drive, I don't hear no rattles no mo'.

mzn50,
What did your noise turn out to be? Was it a loose sway bar bolt?
I don't think mine is related to the engine lid. I drove it slowly around my neighborhood with the engine lid open, and it still made the same clanking noise!?x!
