rfedele - Are they replacing your transmission due to this or some other problem?
My only complaint was about the notchiness. According to the tech he checked the shifter and it was fine, moved onto the trans unit and "found fault inside trans unit - replaced trans" I didn't get any other explanation, was just thrilled they found the problem and took care of it. Just got the car back tonight. I will post after driving a bit more, but it is already noticeably better.

Did I miss your posts explaining why you no longer have it?
No, you just must have forgotten.

In follow up to my last post on this subject, the new trans is a bit notchy when cold (high 20's today in new jersey) but once warm its like butter, big improvement.

Sounds just like a normal tranny now.

I am experiencing the same on my C2S with 1400 miles. When cold, shifting into 2nd could feel like push the gear into molasses or hitting a hard resistance which has to be forced to overcome. When warm, occasional hard resistance could still arise in shifting into 2nd gear. I tried both quick & slow shifting, but could not find a pattern to feel "like butter". This happens only to the 2nd gear; other gears feel like butter no matter how I drive it. Still scratching my head on how to make it feel better.

Shift from first to third when engine and tranny are on the cold side. Engine has lots of torque and can handle it. Best to do this when level or on a slight incline. Don't worry about the extra rpms. BTW, my cold M3 with SMG software only allows high rpm shifts when cold.
