Two ways and they're not easy.

(1) On the rotor side of the wheel (when mounted) will be the Porsche OEM logo.

(2) The weight of the wheel will most likely be lighter than the copy. (Weigh the two you're comparing unmounted).

From the outside it's quite hard to tell.

I haven't seen too many replicas but the OEM wheels also have rim width and offset stamped on either side of the valve stem - e.g., 11 51

My Carrerra III wheels that I use for winter tires are replicas and stamped inside it says "Not Original Equipment".

The OEM Carrera Classics also have "BBS" stamped on them in the inside rim, along with the serial number and offsets.

If you are looking on ebay, most are replicas. And you will notice the replicas do not come with center caps because of the logos. Replicas normally don't have any names on them. This applies to all makes.

Buy a new P-car from a dealer ... I'll bet the wheels are real Porsche.

I could be incorrect here, but odds are ... they're real and they're spectacular.

That's what you think. I know a dealer that got busted for selling replicas as OEM just a few years ago, both the sales & parts dept. I am not going to name names other than the fact they are in Pasadena, CA

Thought I once saw a photo of a closeup of the BBS stamp and markings but can't find it.
