The wheels are 18" Kinesis K28's with lil' ol' Michelin Slicks....240/270/18's. Because of the open diff, we actually ended up putting on smaller 17" slicks for the timed runs as they were better able to gain heat and useable traction.

I don't know why someone has not done the GT3 conversion yet. The Dry Sump engine has got to fit in the cayman, and pay a little homage to the air cooled cars it 's derived from... Hell why not an air cooled engine to boot.

I am curious as well... What are the limitations that prevent putting a GT3 engine in a CS?

The only limitation for M.O.M is $$$$. In each case (special project cars) our customers dictate exactly what they want and are willing to pay for. The dry sump GT3 engine is possible.

Did you shoot in RAW and fix a lot in PS? Those pictures are SLICK!
Let me lend some insight. These photos are what are called "rig shots". They are basically a combination of a custom built "rig" and Photoshop to remove the rig from the photo.

Typically they will use vacuum cups if they attach to the body or earth magnets if they rely on attaching under the body.

Standard rig technique is to take a photo when still for maximum sharpness, then a high aperature/long exposure photo for the movement. Although it looks like the car is moving fast, with the right equipment (some ND filters and a very high aperature) you can shoot for a few seconds in broad daylight. At these speeds, often the cars are just pushed if it's possible to accomplish without being seen in order to minimize vibration (the natural enemy of the rigshot).

Rigshots require both investment in the custom build as well as a great deal of Photoshop skill (not to mention a wide angle lens!).

An example of a "before and after":

good looking cayman! (except the red wheels . . . eewwhh!)

can't wait to hear what it sounds like after!
i would be interested. did i miss the price?
how much w/ lwfw and lsd?
You could be right....I wasn't aware RUF "couldn't" make it fit and instead chose the supercharging route. Haven't thought it out carefully and probably wouldn't until a customer motivated us to do so (Red wheels are off one our race cars btw and are used on the Cayman for AX only...we have 19's for street use)

The price depends on spec (engine, headers, exhaust, suspension, body, etc...) as we are not selling only a complete packaged car a-la FBL GTR. As an example, assume $20K + 100 hours of labor for just the 997 3.8l X-51 transplant. Haven't confirmed pricing for the LWF setup and at least one LSD build quote came in at (our cost) $5K (which we said...pass). Will post updates as soon as we have new goodies to talk about.

Thanks for the explanation, Mark. I figured a rig had to be involved to keep the car in focus and vibration would be your enemy. Having worked in the high-tech industry I know many Photoshop wizards, and while they can do whatever you want with whatever pic you have, a proper rig would save a ton of time.

P.S. Maybe I'll see you at Boundary Bay on Feb 18th? I'm going to try and be there for my first autox in the GT3. It should be, ummmm......"interesting". PM me if you're going to be there.
