Default Anyone having problems with headunit?

I've an 07 with 1200 miles and have noticed some wierd things with the headunit. Sometimes it's like it doesn't respond when you change tracks on a cd. Today when I started the car the screen was blank for a couple of minutes but then worked fine. Anyone else experiencing any problems?

Is it all the time, or has it just happened this once?

I had a problem with the navigation part of the PCM. I did a hard reboot (powered down the car, pulled the fuse, reinserted fuse, reloaded DVD, then restarted the car. Took a couple minutes and then it came back.

If this is happening more than one or two times,--definitely go to the dealer with the problem.

You might want to take it to the dealer and have them check and make sure there isnt a software issue, although not likely. Or they can at least check the system for any problems.

I've had the CD issue as well a couple of times. The unit locks up and you can't change tracks. I usually shut it off and it will return to normal. At times, a PIA, but its not worth the trip to the dealership at 2 hours away.

i had a problem with the **** wich stopped clicking in to place. It would turn but there was no effect on the screen. The PCM was replaced for this by the dealer.

Same for me. Seems to be affected by changing modes (e.g. navi to trip). The > or < function to change tracks won't work. Toggling in and out of the various modes usually takes care of it. Very intermitant "problem". No other issues, so I live with it.

Every now and then, the radio changes stations - to other presets - by itself. For instance, I'll be listening to the station on preset 1 and it will suddenly change to preset 6. This also occurred with the head unit on my Boxster S. Seems to be a Porsche thing. The head unit on the Boxster S frequently wouldn't recognize one of the presets also. If you pressed preset 8, it would simply go to the station under preset 9. You'd have to press it multiple times to get it to register. Very odd.

My original unit was blanking out at times and then died after only approx 300miles and was replaced. The new unit sometimes misses inputs but never had hesitation or similar issues on startup. I would get it replaced.

Do you have the traffic function selected? Seems this was identified in a couple of threads as a reason for those un prompted station shifts.

I've noticed a few quirks. If I shut off the car while a cd is playing, when I restart the cd appears to have been playing for awhile after the car has been shut down. I have had the cd lockup issue as well, restarting solves the problem. Related but off topic, has anyone had there windows randomly lose the auto up/down feature, necessitating engine restart?

Default Head Unit

I think it's a "default" setting. Don't have the OM in front of me, but go in to the audio mode and it's in the memory string that begins with Preset Memory I believe. Scan down and the Traffic Program option is listed there. If it's checked, this may be the problem. IIRC, when the signal strength weakens, if this option is checked, the radio automatically goes to the "Traffic Station."
