Guards Red looks great with a Black or Tan Interior. Easy to maintain and forgiving.
SVB is the reason why our 997 S Cab is GR. That car looks as spectacular today as it did when I was 16. Something about those 80's GR cars in dreams, drawing schoolbook covers and posters in the garage. I knew it would happen.
My color/car progression was Silver 914, Glacier White 993S, Seal Grey Cab, Guards Red/Tan 997 Cab. The general comments from people over the years... Silver, classic German. Glacier White, rich, gorgeous, looks wet. Seal Grey, sophisticated, nice break from Silver. Guards Red, love it, racy, looks fast.
Somehow to me, SVB's car, the 964 RS's, 993/993TT in Red just look like they exude - Porsche. Not that I am not moved by SY or GW(as I love all the Lambo colors), but the GR's look great. I think I will always be a GR guy, unless I buck up the next time around and do a paint to sample Glacier White. Enjoy

Gets a lot of attention and women seem to absolutely love the color too. Or maybe it's just me.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Private Party AZ sale or dealer?

Ahhh...the new 06 cab with all the toys, or their 05 coupe? Nice cars!
Here are some additional pics to whet your appetite. I've had 3 GR P-cars and and 2 Hellrot bimmers (BMWs version of GR). The one time I went silver I found myself wanting some pizazz after 2 months of ownership...

So, I had the G R touchup paint on the kitchen counter, and I cut my finger with a knife and drop of blood falls on the counter next to the paint bottle, and they're the same color......I BLEED GUARDS RED!
(Thinking it would make a nifty bumper sticker)

We were leaving posh restaurant. One of the guys is verrry loaded ($). His brand new Porsche he was excited about came around first by the valet. I say, "Holy cra*p Bob (not his real name) did it HAVE to be RED!?" Was a good zinger. Everybody instantly understood what the issues were.
Just depends on where you drive the car, and who you hang around with.

MMD - not 100% sure what your assumption or preconceptions are about red sports cars (compared with those people have about merely spending $$$ on a car) but ...
(and no offense)
at some point in life you buy what you like because it appeals to your senses and sensibilities and stop caring about what other people think. If they jump to conclusions based on their own biases (some would insert the word insecurities here) then that's their issue!
I don't drive a Porsche to impress anyone, so I am not worried about whether they have notions about red cars. Personally I feel sad for people who like a bright color but buy silver to assuage other people's issues ...

When I got a used 996GT2 last year I had only one choice, RED. Personally, I do not think a German car should be dressed in RED. Non the less after reading this phrase in a magazine add, it kind of grew on me.
“If fast were a color it would be much more opinionated than blue. It may think about being black but demand more spirit. I would be more aggressive than green and be less cautious than yellow. If fast were a color it would be RED”.
Enjoy it!!

The 997 does look great in GR. I drove a 2005 C2 in GR/Black sport seats - absolutely wonderful driving, beautiful to look at, but it does seem to stand out in a crowd. Arrest Me Red Porsches attract a lot of attention...

I love my GR 997, seems like everyone else here in town has black or silver P-cars. Guards red with black full leather, painted console, seatbacks and red gauge faces. Gotta have clear side markers.
