I've got an '03 996 with a CDR23, factory CD changer and a Gateway 500 Lite. The Dension unit came with the car, but it was never hooked up.

Can I simply unplug the CD changer and plug in the Gateway and I'm good to go?

I tried doing that earlier today, and it didn't seem to work. I even downloaded the Porsche GW_CFG.BIN from Dension's site and put it on a USB stick. For a while, the CDR23 would show Track 1 through Track 99 when I pressed the CD button, but I didn't get any audio.

Am I missing something here?!

The Lite versions are quite old...and not full featured like the Gateway 500. But...if you can get the serial # or product #/version from the device, and email Dension's support site, they can steer you with any issues you might be having.

Go to dension.com, click automotive, then support (create a ticket). We'd be happy to assist, but we have never offered the Lite products since the 500 (full version) is what is designed for the '03. If you disconnect the changer, you will need to loop the fiber optic closed using a bypass cable (we do offer on our site).
