Does anyone know if the Dension allows for gapless playback of albums (i.e. mixtapes)? Thanks!

 

I just installed the gateway500 on my porsche 997 carreraS and I am having some troubles using it. I use it with a USB drive only and although the sound quality is great, the interface is slow and not practical. Fox example.

Is it possible to browse at the list of songs with the **** and not automatically play the track when I leave the selector for more than 1 second?

I heard that there is a setup menu somewhere but the manual doesn't say anything. Any user's guide would be appreciated.

 

There is no configuration option to change that behavior. Even without Dension, the PCM exhibits this behavior. If you scroll through tracks on a CD and leave the selector on a track, the PCM will select that track after a short delay.

 

Isn't this done through iTunes?

 

so, if I connect an ipod instead of the USB hard disk will I see any difference in the interface? Is it better to navigate the menus from the ipod or from the headunit in that case

 

Ipod allows you to navigate through the Artist/Album/Song library as you would on an ipod. USB only allows you to go through the folders on the harddrive.

 

The one thing you can do, is push the return button on the PCM before it auto selects the track, but as others have said, the auto select is a function of the PCM. So it is, what it is.

 

I was looking at the Dension website today and saw an option for an addon peice. This is called the BT1000 bluetooth module that connects to the ICELINK 500. Has anyone installed this? How is the reception?

May be somebody can answer me,
if I've got BMW professional radio on e90
without monitor, just
2 lines display, how will search function work with it?
Will I be able to search artist for first letter?

 

We will have the BT device shortly. It has not yet been officially released, and is pending. Should be less than two weeks. We will have it available along with the GW500 units, as well as by itself.

 

The Bluetooth sounds interesting. I wonder how well it will work, considering the engine and road noise inside the Boxster.

I think I'm going to pass on being the guinea pig for this one....
